Resumo: Oral squamous cell carcinoma comprises 80-90% of oral malignancies. Here, we describe two contrasting cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma illustrate the disease spectrum. A 64-year-old non-smoker, non-alcoholic male presented with a white lesion, diagnosed as microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma. Swift referral to an oncologist led to successful surgery, ensuring a recurrence-free postoperative period. In contrast, a 59-year-old male, a smoker and alcohol consumer, sought help for a painful tongue lesion. Examination revealed advanced squamous cell carcinoma with lymph node involvement. Despite comprehensive treatment involving surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, recurrence occurred after two years, resulting in the patients demise. Emphasizing the crucial role of preventive measures, early detection, and thorough monitoring throughout the treatment journey is paramount for improving oral cancer patient outcomes.
