Título: CENTRAL GIANT CELL LESION EFFECTIVELY TREATED WITH INTRALESIONAL GLUCOCORTICOID INJECTION: A 7-YEAR FOLLOW-UP CASE

Resumo: A 39 years-old female patient presented a swelling in symphysis and parasymphysis of the mandible, without any complaining of pain or sensitivity, but positive for sensitivity test about 5 months. Intraoral examination showed swelling in the region of anterior mandible and normal colored oral mucosa. Computed tomography of the face and complementary exams were requested. Also, an incisional biopsy was performed for histopathological evaluation. The diagnosis of central giant cell lesion was made and the proposed treatment for the case was 30 sessions of injection of glucocorticoid solution (triancinolone associated with 0.5% bupivacaine, 1:200.000 epinephrine) inside the lesion, 1x per week. For each 2 cm of radiolucency observed on computed tomography, 2 mL of the solution were infiltrated. After the applications, osteoplasty of the region was performed. The patient has been followed up for 7 years, without signs of lesion recurrence, and no functional or aesthetical limitations.
