Resumo: Hairy polyp (HP) is an uncommon benign polypoid lesion containing both ectodermal and mesodermal elements that mostly affects the nasopharynx of female neonates. It may also occur in the oropharynx, palate, tongue, lip, and middle ear, being rarely associated with cleft palate. Conservative surgical excision is curative. A 4-day-old baby girl presented a 1 cm polypoid smooth-surfaced nodule in the posterior dorsal togue closely associated with a cleft palate, which produced breastfeeding issues. Three additional similar swellings were also observed in the lower alveolar ridge and oropharynx. Under general anesthesia, excisional biopsy of two lesions were performed and microscopically, both were covered by keratinizing squamous epithelium with underlying adnexal structures and fibroadipose tissue including cartilage tissue. After six months of follow-up, the patient is well with improvement of symptoms. Surgical removal of other lesions and cleft palate repair are being planned. Multiple oral HP may affect neonates with cleft palate.
