Título: TENOSYNOVIAL GIANT CELL TUMOUR: CASE REPORT OF A RARE SOFT TISSUE TUMOR

Nome do Apresentador: Marina Rocha Fonseca Souza

Categoria do Trabalho: Apresentação oral de casos clínicos (AOC)

Área Temática: Patologia Oral

Resumo: A 57-year-old female patient was referred to a public clinic presenting a symptomatic increased volume and hardened area in the left temporomandibular joint (TMJ) region. No mouth-opening limitation was observed. Imaging studies revealed a relatively well-defined lesion with intra-lesional calcifications and hypointense signals in T1 and T2 sequences. After an incisional biopsy, histopathological analyses were suggestive of tenosynovial giant cell tumor, revealing hyperplastic synovial lining and variable collections of mononuclear, ovoid cells interspersed with multinucleated giant cells, focal hemorrhagic areas, hemosiderin deposits, and dystrophic calcification foci. Subsequent surgical treatment involved a low condylectomy and a vertical ramus osteotomy with the proximal segment repositioned to serve as a new condyle. The histopathological analysis of the surgical piece endorsed the initial diagnosis. The patient presented a mouth opening of more than 35mm in the immediate postoperative period and evolved without complications. There are no signs of recurrence after 3 months of follow-up.
