Título: DIAGNOSIS AND SURGICAL TREATMENT OF CALCIFYING ODONTOGENIC CYST: REPORT IN A PEDIATRIC PATIENT

Resumo: Female patient, 6 years old, black, attended with her mother at the stomatology clinic who reported a tumor 2 months ago. During the history of the current illness, the mother described the asymptomatic appearance of the maxillary tumor. On extra-oral physical examination, she presented an expansion in the middle third of the face (right side). On intra-oral physical examination presented a normochromic tumor with erythematous, smooth, irregular with a firm consistency located in the alveolar ridge up to the hard palate. An incisional biopsy was made and the inicial report was Ameloblastoma. The patient was referred to the maxillofacial surgeon, decompressed the lesion and then enucleated the lesion. The histological sections of the surgical piece revealed a fragment of a benign cystic lesion of odontogenic origin. The association of aspects favors the diagnosis of a Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst. The patient is under regular follow-up with a stomatologist.
