Resumo: Oral amyloidosis is a rare and debilitating disease that, whether primary or secondary, may severely impact the quality of a patient´s life. A female patient with 71-year-old, reporting previous renal failure, complained of burning tongue and difficulty in chewing lasting four months. Physical examination revealed lesions granulosus mass and surface with verrucous aspect on the dorsum of the tongue and in bilateral buccal mucosa. The main clinical hypotheses were proliferative verrucous leukoplakia and chronic granulomatous disease. An incisional biopsy was performed and microscopic examination revealed a diagnosis of amyloidosis. This case highlights the multiple clinical manifestations of this disease as well as the importance of its early diagnosis to improve the patient´s prognosis.
