Título: LANGERHANS CELL HISTIOCYTOSIS IN AN INFANT: A CASE REPORT WITH A 15-YEAR FOLLOW-UP

Resumo: A 7-month-old Caucasian male presented with his mother complaining of darkened teeth and mobility when brushing. Intraoral examination revealed gingival hyperemia impaired teeth eruption and malformation of primary the teeth resembling rampant caries. An incisional biopsy was performed and histopathological evaluation using HE and immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of Langerhans-cell histiocytosis. The patient was referred to the Boldrini Pediatric Cancer Center. The physical exam performed by the pediatrician detected scaly lesions on both the scalp and the oral mucosa. Ancillary tests included blood and imaging, such as full body bone scans, scintigraphy, and tomography of the maxillary sinuses. Lesions were confirmed to be limited to the scalp and oral cavity. The patient was treated with prednisone and Vinblastine, leading to complete remission. The 15-year follow-up will be presented.
