Título: LOW POWER LASER THERAPY AS A COADJUNCT IN THE TREATMENT OF BELL'S PALSY IN PUERPERA - CASE REPORT

Resumo: Puerperium showed, three days after delivery, blood taste in mouth, dead tongue sensation and nasal bleeding. After that she noted paralysis in the left hemiface, difficulties to close the left eye, earaches, and stiffening of the affected hemiface. Then she had an obstetrician appointment, who prescribed steroidal anti-inflammatory and, later, she went to a neurologist, who confirmed Bell's palsy diagnostic. She realized nine sessions of physiotherapy; however only discrete changes were noted. A licensed dentist begun laser therapy protocol as therapeutical treatment, utilizing low power laser with different wavelengths. The sessions happened weekly, and the protocol varied from 1-3 Joules. The red beam was applied to muscle points and infrared beam to the nervous facial line. No more face asymmetry was observed in the sixth session, despite she was still reporting to feel some stiffening in some regions, so additional sessions was applied to reduce these symptoms, totalizing eleven sessions.
