Resumo: Peripheral Ameloblastoma (PA) is a rare odontogenic tumor that occurs outside the gnathic bone, affecting only the soft tissues of the gingiva and alveolar ridge. The purpose of this study is to present a case of a black-female patient, with 54-years-old, complaining of persistent and painless gum swelling, in the gingiva of teeth 33-34, with six months of evolution. The treatment was performed by excisional biopsy, the diagnosis was confirmed by the anatomopathological examination. There was no recurrence during the 36-month follow-up. The literature describes that PA affects commonly the mandibular premolar region of men in the sixth decade of life. This lesion is typically described as a painless, long-lasting tumor. Treatment is conservative surgical removal and recurrences are uncommon. We conclude that PA is a rare benign odontogenic tumor, with well-defined socio-clinical-pathological characteristics. Cases like this, contribute to the delimitation of epidemiological predilections of this disease.
