Resumo: Metastatic tumors of the jaw are infrequent, with less than 1% of all malignant tumors diagnosed in the oral cavity, most often affecting the posterior region of the mandible and may present clinically as a swelling, associated with episodes of pain, paresthesia and tooth mobility. This study aims to report two cases of metastasis from two distinct primary tumors. Case 1: A 60-year-old woman previously diagnosed with thyroid carcinoma with the chief complaint of a gingival lump; panoramic radiograph showed a radiolucent image in the posterior region of the mandible, diagnosed as metastasis; patient died 14 months after the diagnosis. Case 2: A 41-year-old male with a previous gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) referred pain and paresthesia in the chin. On clinical examination, patient presented with a mandible swelling. Panoramic radiograph showed an extensive image of mixed aspects that later was diagnosed as metastasis. Patient is currently under exclusive palliative care.
