Resumo: The Major Salivary Gland Disorders is a pathological alteration that affects the main structure responsible for saliva production and secretion, and may involve inflammatory, infectious, or neoplastic processes. This study describes the ultrasonography exam application as a complementary method in cases treated in an Oral Medicine Service of a Dental School with complaints of increased volume (swelling), pain or functional alterations in the submandibular, parotid, and sublingual glands. After the clinical examination, the ultrasonography application was performed on both sides, assessing parenchymal echotexture, gland size, lymph node presence, and vascularization. The ultrasonographic findings were correlated with histopathological examination to achieve a definitive diagnosis, like chronic sialadenitis, Sjögren's syndrome, plunging ranula, and benign neoplasm. The patients received clinical and/or surgical treatment according to each case. The ultrasonography exam contributed as a highly effective, noninvasive, and cost-effective imaging modality for diagnosing major salivary gland lesions in an Oral Medicine discipline.
