Resumo: This study describes ultrasonographic features of distinct vascular lesions in patients with clinical diagnosis of hemangioma. The first patient revealed a nodule on the lower lip that had been developing for ten years. Ultrasonography showed an isoechoic nodule in the submucosal tissue, with well-defined margins and posterior acoustic enhancement. Hypoechoic elongated areas with mobile debris not detected on Doppler-study were present within the lesion. Central blood flow similar to peripheral blood flow was observed, without arterial or venous predominance, which was consistent with hemangioma, and sclerotherapy was indicated. The second patient revealed a nodular lesion in the buccal mucosa that had been developing for four months. Ultrasonography showed a hypoechoic elongated image in the submucosa with regular margins. Doppler-study showed mobile debris and venous flow within the lesion, which increased with Valsalva maneuver and decreased with compressive maneuvers, which was consistent with dilated venous segment, therefore no intervention was indicated.
