Título: Focal Cemento-Osseous Dysplasia Associated with Suppuration: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges in a Case Report

Resumo: A 54-year-old female patient reported pain. Clinical examination revealed a fistula with suppuration in an edentulous area in the right posterior region of the mandible. Panoramic radiography showed a well-defined, hyperdense radiopaque image, surrounded by a radiolucent halo, bilaterally in the posterior mandible, associated with tooth 38. Tomography was requested for surgical planning. Conservative surgical removal of the lesion was performed under local anesthesia, with elevation of a mucoperiosteal flap, followed by enucleation and curettage of the cavity. The flap was sutured and the patient was discharged with postoperative instructions. The specimen was fixed in formalin for histopathological analysis. Histological examination revealed coarse basophilic lines and a fibrocellular stromal tissue permeated by bone trabeculae, with no signs of osteomyelitis. The diagnosis was focal cemento-osseous dysplasia. The patient was followed, and after 18 months, radiographic control showed complete healing.
