Categoria do Trabalho: Pôster - Investigação Original (IO)

Área Temática: Oncologia

Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the association between NF-κB expression and clinicopathological features and prognosis in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).
Study Design: This systematic review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines and registered in PROSPERO (CRD420251237556). A comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, LILACS, Cochrane, and gray literature was performed to identify observational studies assessing NF-κB expression by immunohistochemistry in HNSCC. Study selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment were independently conducted by two reviewers using the Cochrane RoB-2 and QUIPS tools.
Results: Fourteen studies involving 1,401 patients with HNSCC were included. China was the leading contributor (7/14 studies), and nasopharyngeal carcinoma was the most frequently investigated tumor subtype (5 studies), followed by laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (4 studies). Sample sizes ranged from 24 to 237 patients. A marked male predominance was observed among studies (1,057 men vs. 234 women). Age reporting was heterogeneous, although most cohorts comprised middle-aged to older adults. NF-κB expression was frequently elevated in tumor tissues, especially in nasopharyngeal, laryngeal, and oral cavity carcinomas.
Conclusion: Current evidence indicates that NF-κB overexpression is a frequent finding in HNSCC and may be associated with more aggressive clinicopathological behavior and poorer prognosis.
