Título: Foregut cyst on the dorsum of the tongue: a rare case report.

Resumo: A 48-year-old female patient presented with a nodule on the dorsal tongue, first noted five years earlier, associated with a sensation of tongue enlargement and mild speech difficulty. Clinically, a solitary submucosal lesion measuring approximately 1.5 cm was observed at the midline of the tongue dorsum. The main differential diagnoses included granular cell tumor and dermoid cyst. As a complementary diagnostic method, magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well-defined cystic lesion with thin peripheral enhancement, without septations or solid components, measuring approximately 20 × 19 × 17 mm. Based on these findings, an excisional biopsy was performed.
Histopathological examination demonstrated a cyst lined by squamous, respiratory, and gastric foveolar-type epithelium, with the presence of smooth muscle tissue and seromucinous glands, establishing the diagnosis of a foregut cyst. Surgical management was curative, and the patient remains under clinical follow-up, with no signs of recurrence to date.
