Título: ORAL EMBRYONAL RHABDOMYOSARCOMA IN AN ADOLESCENT PATIENT: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 16-year-old Caucasian female patient presented to our clinic with a symptomatic 1,0 cm ulcer on the right buccal mucosa, characterized by irregular borders, infiltrative features, a hemorrhagic base, and a rough surface. No regional lymphadenopathy was detected. Previous treatments, including topical corticosteroids, amoxicillin, 0.12% chlorhexidine, and laser therapy, were ineffective over a 30-day period. Due to persistent pain and progressive swelling, the patient sought specialized care. Anamnesis and physical examination suggested a differential diagnosis of adenocarcinoma vs sarcoma, and an incisional biopsy was performed. Histopathological evaluation revealed a neoplasm of small ovoid cells arranged in clusters. Immunohistochemistry showed positivity for myogenin, MyoD1, and desmin, confirming Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS). The patient was referred to oncologic management and started on the VAC chemotherapy protocol. This case highlights the importance of accurate diagnosis of persistent oral ulcers to avoid delays in the identification of malignant neoplasms.
