Categoria do Trabalho: Pôster - Relato de Caso ou Série de Casos

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: A 48-year-old male, former smoker and alcohol user, presented with a painful oral lesion following extraction of tooth 48, with a 30-day history of progression and worsening symptoms. Clinical examination revealed right submandibular lymphadenopathy and three oral lesions: an ulcerated lesion on the soft palate, a nodular lesion in the retromolar region, and a leukoplakic lesion on the posterior ventral surface of the tongue. Diagnostic hypotheses included malignant neoplasm, postoperative infection, and traumatic lesion/leukoplakia. Histopathological analysis of incisional biopsies revealed moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma in the soft palate and retromolar region, suggesting a single lesion, and epithelial dysplasia on the tongue. The patient was referred for oncologic treatment (T3N2M0). Three cycles of induction chemotherapy and palliative radiotherapy were performed. The patient developed pulmonary sepsis and died three months after diagnosis. This case highlights the need for immediate investigation of atypical post-extraction lesions and the dentist's role in early detection.
