Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of lip alterations and associated factors among beach street vendors in Santos, Brazil, chronically exposed to solar radiation. Study Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2024 and 2025 with 333 beach vendors. Forty calibrated examiners performed visual inspection of the lips. Participants answered a structured questionnaire addressing sociodemographic data, occupational exposure, and photoprotection habits. Educational guidance was provided, and individuals with alterations were referred for specialized care. Results: The mean age was 41.4 years, with predominance of males (76.3%), and a mean of 11.4 years of occupational activity. Smoking and alcohol consumption were reported by 50% and 46.0%, respectively. The use of body sunscreen was reported by 54.5% of participants, while only 12.9% used lip sunscreen. Lip alterations were observed in 28.5% of individuals, with dryness being the most frequent finding (21.9%), followed by atrophy (3.3%), ulcers (1.8%), and white plaques (1.5%). Conclusion: A considerable prevalence of lip alterations was identified among beach vendors, associated with high solar exposure and inadequate photoprotection. These findings highlight the need for targeted preventive strategies, including education and early detection, to reduce the burden of potentially malignant disorders and lip cancer in this vulnerable population.
