Título: Treatment of Multifocal Oral Leukoplakia Using High-Power Laser and Lycopene: A Case Report

Resumo: This report describes a 64-year-old male former smoker presenting with multiple oral leukoplakias involving the bilateral buccal mucosa, hard palate, retromolar regions, and tongue, characterizing a rare multifocal presentation. Site-specific incisional biopsies were performed. Histopathological evaluation revealed hyperkeratosis associated with varying grades of epithelial dysplasia, confirming the diagnosis of multifocal oral leukoplakia. The patient underwent serial high-power laser ablation of the lesions, followed by adjunctive lycopene therapy, considering its antioxidant properties and potential adjunctive benefits in oral potentially malignant disorders. Postoperative care included a topical gel containing 0.12% chlorhexidine and hyaluronic acid to enhance tissue repair. Follow-up demonstrated favorable clinical outcomes, although delayed healing was observed in a posterior buccal mucosa/retromolar region. This case underscores the relevance of a multimodal therapeutic strategy for the effective management and control of multifocal oral leukoplakia.
