Resumo:
Mandibular osteoradionecrosis is an important complication of radiotherapy in the head and neck region, characterized by persistent bone exposure in an irradiated area for a prolonged period, without evidence of tumor recurrence. This is a Case Report of a 70-year-old male patient with a history of alcohol use and smoking, previously treated for throat cancer with high doses of radiotherapy, who developed pain, bone exposure, and signs of infection after multiple tooth extractions. The diagnosis was confirmed by imaging examination (computer tomography), and treatment consisted of a surgical approach involving the removal of necrotic tissue, the extraction of compromised teeth, and the application of platelet-rich fibrin obtained from the patient's own blood. During clinical follow-up, a favorable outcome was observed, with mucosal healing, infection resolution, and pain relief, without the need for further interventions, demonstrating a satisfactory result and improved quality of life.
