Título: ORAL MANIFESTATIONS IN A PATIENT WITH ACQUIRED FANCONI SYNDROME AFTER RHABDOMYOSARCOMA THERAPY: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: Fanconi syndrome is a rare disease affecting the renal tubules and may be hereditary or acquired, the latter commonly associated with pharmacological or oncological treatments. This case report describes the clinical findings and dental management of a 12-year-old patient diagnosed with acquired Fanconi syndrome after chemotherapy and radiotherapy for palatal rhabdomyosarcoma. The patient reported toothache and oral discomfort. Clinical oral examination revealed carious lesions in all 24 teeth, enamel hypoplasia, reduced salivary flow, pseudomembranous candidiasis on the tongue dorsum, and bilateral angular cheilitis. Treatment included topical antifungal therapy, oral environment stabilization, and reinforcement of oral hygiene. Endodontic treatments and direct composite resin restorations were performed. Although Fanconi syndrome is not directly associated with hyposalivation, cancer therapie especially head and neck radiotherapy can significantly reduce salivary flow, predisposing to caries and opportunistic infections. Oral rehabilitation improved function and patient self-esteem.
