Título: ORAL MESENCHYMAL LESIONS IN THE AMAZONIAN REGION: A 14 YEAR EPIDEMIOLOGICAL UPDATE

Nome do Apresentador: Antonio Jorge Araújo de VASCONCELOSII

Categoria do Trabalho: Pôster - Investigação Original (IO)

Área Temática: Patologia Oral

Resumo: Objective: This study updates the epidemiological profile and prevalence of mesenchymal-origin lesions diagnosed at a reference oral pathology service in Amazonas, Brazil.
Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional, retrospective study using histopathological reports from 2012 to 2025. Of 3,235 total reports, 885 were lesions of mesenchymal origin. 375 cases were found with incomplete clinical data.
Results: The five most prevalent lesions were Inflammatory Fibrous Hyperplasia (n=182), Giant Cell Fibroma (n=84), Pyogenic Granuloma (n=75), Chronic Hyperplastic Gingivitis (n=40), and Traumatic Neuroma (n=26). The affected population was predominantly female (n=549), melanoderm (n=231), and adults (n=593). The predominance of reactive lesions highlights the oral cavitys susceptibility to chronic trauma and irritant factors, such as poorly adapted prosthesis and biofilm accumulation.
Conclusion: Mesenchymal lesions in the Amazonas state population are mainly reactive, with a significant predilection for adult, melanoderm and females. The high prevalence of these conditions highlights the need for public health policies focused on rehabilitation and oral hygiene education. Also, complete and standardized clinical data are fundamental to ensuring diagnostic accuracy, enabling important analyses, and supporting evidence based health policies.
