Título: RECURRENT ADULT-TYPE RHABDOMYOMA IN THE FLOOR OF THE MOUTH: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 55-year-old male patient with a history of previous excision of a rhabdomyoma in the floor of the mouth approximately seven years earlier presented with a recurrent firm, sessile, and painless swelling in the same region, extending beyond the midline and causing tongue protrusion, with no changes in mucosal color. Computed tomography revealed a hypodense lesion in the right floor of the mouth, extending to the contralateral side. Based on the clinical history and imaging findings, surgical excision of the lesion was planned and performed. Histopathological examination revealed a benign mesenchymal neoplasm composed of proliferating striated muscle cells, characterized by large cells with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm, centrally to slightly eccentrically located nuclei, and areas containing vacuolated "spider-like" cells, confirming the diagnosis of rhabdomyoma. The patient has remained under follow-up for four months, with no signs of recurrence, highlighting the importance of surveillance in cases.
