Resumo: Oral herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a frequent and potentially serious complication, generally associated with immunosuppression resulting from the disease and chemotherapy treatment. We report a case of oral mucosal involvement of the hard palate caused by HSV in a patient with ALL. The patient was a 22-year-old male diagnosed with ALL who presented with an ulcer on the left hard palate, extending from the region corresponding to teeth #26 to #21. The lesion initially appeared as a well-defined ulcer and rapidly progressed with an increase in size. Cytopathological examination revealed changes consistent with viral infection, and the final diagnosis was confirmed as herpes simplex virus (HSV). The dentist plays a fundamental role in the early recognition of these lesions in the hospital setting, contributing to accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Support: FAPEMIG, CNPq, and CAPES.
