Título: Late soft tissue necrosis after radiotherapy for treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma

Resumo: A 64-year-old male patient presented with an ulcerated lesion on the floor of mouth, diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma. The patient underwent surgical resection associated with neck dissection (pT4 pN1) followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy with cisplatin. During treatment, the patient developed severe mucositis and soft tissue necrosis on the floor of mouth. A subsequent incisional biopsy showed no evidence of tumor recurrence. Supportive therapies were instituted, including photobiomodulation and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, resulting in complete resolution. This report emphasizes the importance of regular follow-up and management of late complications.
