Título: PULP OUTCOME OF TEETH ASSOCIATED WITH CYSTS AND TUMORS AFTER CONSERVATIVE SURGERY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS

Resumo: Conservative surgical management of jaw cysts and benign tumors raises important clinical questions regarding the maintenance of pulp vitality of teeth associated with these lesions. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate pulp outcome of these teeth following conservative surgery. A comprehensive search was conducted in MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science databases (June 2025; updated January 2026). Of 664 potentially eligible records, 18 met the eligibility criteria and were included, comprising 300 patients and 1,010 teeth associated with odontogenic and non-odontogenic cysts, benign odontogenic tumors, inflammatory lesions, and fibro-osseous lesions. Meta-analysis using a random-effects model demonstrated a high prevalence of pulp vitality preservation (87%; 95% CI: 76-93; I² = 88.5%), while the prevalence of pulp necrosis was 11% (95% CI: 7-17; I² = 52.2%). Endodontic treatment was required in only 9% of cases (95% CI: 5-16; I² = 78.1%). Despite heterogeneity, findings indicate that most teeth maintain pulp vitality after conservative surgery, supporting a selective, biologically driven clinical approach with careful follow-up to avoid unnecessary endodontic interventions.
