Resumo: This case report describes an ameloblastoma diagnosed through cytological evaluation using the cell block technique applied to fine-needle aspiration material. A 68-year-old man presented with an asymptomatic expansive lesion in the anterior mandible. Computed tomography revealed an extensive hypodense, multilocular intraosseous lesion extending from teeth 45 to 34, associated with bone expansion and root resorption. The lesion was aspirated, and the collected material, fixed in formalin, was processed using the cell block technique. Cytological analysis showed epithelial clusters arranged in nests, with peripheral columnar cells exhibiting inverted nuclear polarization and central stellate reticulum-like areas, consistent with ameloblastoma. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis. The patient underwent marginal resection and remains under follow-up with no evidence of recurrence. This case highlights the cell block technique as a reliable, minimally invasive diagnostic approach.
