Resumo: Hyposalivation (HS) and Xerostomia (XT) are common conditions that compromise not only oral health, but also the quality of life and are challenging to manage. In this context, systemic vascular photobiomodulation (VPBM) has become a promising treatment for various diseases by promoting enzymatic and cellular modulation, showing effective results. A 68-year-old female patient using medications for chronic diseases, was diagnosed with HS and XT. She underwent a VPBM performed by continuous and direct transcutaneous application with a bracelet on the left radial artery, using a red laser, aluminum-gallium-indium phosphide, 100 mW, 180 J, 30 minutes (Laser Duo, MMOptics, São Paulo, Brazil), weekly, for 10 weeks. After this treatment, oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL), XT, and HS were evaluated and showed improvement. Given the above, VPBM may be a non-invasive, economically viable alternative treatment for XT and HS, thereby improving OHRQoL.
