Resumo: Oral mucocele is a common benign lesion of minor salivary glands, usually related to ductal trauma and mucus extravasation. Conventional excision may be limited by intraoperative bleeding and difficulty in lesion delimitation. This report describes the use of chalazion forceps as an auxiliary instrument for mucocele removal.
A 25 year old male presented with a soft fluctuant swelling approximately 10 mm in diameter on the lower lip, with a four month history. Clinical diagnosis of mucocele was established and excision was performed under local anesthesia. Chalazion forceps were applied surrounding the lesion, providing tissue stabilization and mechanical hemostasis.
This approach improved visualization of surgical margins, preserved lesion integrity, and facilitated identification of adjacent minor salivary glands. Reduced bleeding and shorter surgical time were observed. Histopathology confirmed oral mucocele. Healing was uneventful, with no recurrence during follow up.
Chalazion forceps represent a simple, low cost, and effective adjunct for oral mucocele.
