Título: Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Hard Palate: A Case Report

Resumo: This report describes the case of patient P.M.L., male, 63 years old, rural worker, with a history of alcohol consumption and tobacco use since age 13, who presented to a dental clinic with a complaint of a lesion on the hard palate with approximately one and a half months of evolution, associated with gingival swelling, absence of lesion growth, and fever. Clinical examination revealed an extensive ulcerated area with a necrotic appearance in the palatal region. Based on these findings, an incisional biopsy with safety margins was performed, fixed in 10% formalin, and submitted for histopathological analysis. Microscopic examination confirmed the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma. The patient was referred to a head and neck surgery service, where advanced-stage disease was confirmed, precluding curative treatment. No oncologic intervention was performed. The patient died two months after diagnosis. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis of potentially malignant oral lesions.
