Título: GLANDULAR ODONTOGENIC CYST OF THE MAXILLA: A CASE REPORT OF AN UNCOMMON PRESENTATION

Resumo: Glandular odontogenic cysts (GOCs) are rare odontogenic lesions that exhibit variable clinical behaviour and may present aggressive features. This report describes an unusual case of a 53-year-old female patient with an extensive asymptomatic lesion in the maxilla. Clinically, limited mouth opening, vestibular cortical expansion, and tooth mobility were observed. Cone-beam computed tomography revealed a hypodense lesion extending from teeth 16 to 25, with cortical thinning, bone perforation, and involvement of the nasal cavity floor. An incisional biopsy was performed. Histologically, examination demonstrated a cystic cavity lined by epithelium of variable thickness, with squamous and cuboidal areas, nodular thickenings, hobnail cells, papillary projections, intraepithelial microcysts, and mucous and ciliated cells, confirming the diagnosis of GOC. The patient underwent surgical treatment and remains under follow-up without recurrence. This case reinforces the importance of histopathological analysis for the diagnosis of GOC, especially in unusual anatomical locations such as the maxilla.
