Título: MANDIBULAR AMELOBLASTOMA WITH DELAYED DIAGNOSIS DUE TO ELECTIVE ESTHETIC TREATMENT: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 38-year-old female patient was referred for evaluation of a radiographic finding after noticing an asymptomatic swelling in the left posterior mandible of unknown duration. She reported prior awareness of the lesion, but diagnostic investigation had been postponed due to orthodontic and esthetic treatment. Clinical examination revealed a palpable swelling with mild facial asymmetry. Imaging studies, including panoramic radiography and computed tomography, showed a large, well-defined unilocular radiolucent lesion with radiopaque margins and a scalloped appearance, extending from the mandibular body to the ramus. The lesion was adjacent to the impacted third molar and exhibited bone expansion with areas of cortical discontinuity. Differential diagnoses included odontogenic keratocyst, ameloblastoma, and dentigerous cyst. An incisional biopsy confirmed lead to diagnosis of ameloblastoma. The patient underwent surgical resection and remains under follow-up, showing bone regeneration and no recurrence after two months.
