Título: Mandibular Metastasis from Thyroid Carcinoma: A Case Report Ten Years After Primary Diagnosis

Resumo: A 47-year-old female patient, who presented with an asymptomatic and right-side asymmetry of the face, extending from the submandibular region to the temple over a six-month period, accompanied by limited mouth opening. Intraoral examination revealed mandibular enlargement without ulceration or bleeding. Panoramic radiography identified a unilocular radiolucent area in the right mandibular ramus, characterized by cortical plates expansion and loss of the coronoid anatomy. The patient's medical history is significant for thyroid carcinoma ten years ago. Differential diagnosis included odontogenic tumor and metastases of thyroid carcinoma. An incisional biopsy confirmed the presence of metastatic thyroid Carcinoma, with histopathological findings of nests and follicles of tumor cells and positivity for thyroglobulin and TTF-1, on immunohistochemical analysis. The patient has been referred to oncology for multidisciplinary treatment, highlighting the importance of recognizing metastatic processes in oral and maxillofacial regions.
