Título: Metabolic markers in salivary gland tumors

Resumo: Objective: This study aimed to investigate the role of metabolic markers (FASN, and GLUT-1) in salivary gland tumors. Study Design: 77 cases were organized into tissue microarray (TMA) and analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Histopathological evaluation included 19 Adenoid Cystic Carcinomas (ACC); 13 Epithelial-Myoepithelial Carcinomas (EMC); 17 Mucoepidermoid Carcinomas (MEC); 6 Polymorphous Adenocarcinomas (PAC); 7 Myoepithelial Carcinomas (MC); 5 Salivary Duct Carcinomas (SDC); 6 Acinar Cell Carcinomas (AciCC); 4 Secretory Carcinomas (SC). Evaluable cases were: For FASN, 5 ACC, 10 EMC, 14 MEC, 4 PAC, 3 MC, 4 SDC, 4 AciCC, and 4 SC. For GLUT-1, 12 ACC, 11 EMC, 11 MEC, 5 PAC, 5 MC, 3 SDC, 4 AciCC, and 3 SC. Marker expression was semiquantitatively scored (0-2) and graded by intensity (+/++). Statistical analyses were performed using GraphPad Prism. Results: FASN positivity was observed in EMC (1/10, 10%), MEC (2/14, 14.3%), and SDC (2/4, 50.0%) (p = 0.2487). GLUT-1 positivity was observed in MC (1/5, 20%), EMC (3/11, 27.3%), MEC (7/11, 63.6%), and SDC (2/3, 66.7%). No significant differences were found between ACC and MEC (p = 0.092). Conclusion: Metabolic markers show subtype-specific expression patterns that may contribute to tumor heterogeneity.
