Título: Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Oral Cavity: A Case Report

Resumo: An 8-year-old male presented with a painless swelling of the buccal mucosa with a 4-month evolution. Clinically, it appeared as a firm, violaceous, ulcerated mass causing obstruction of the oral cavity and ipsilateral oropharynx, resulting in dysphagia and mild dyspnea.
The patient was initially treated for an infectious process without clinical improvement.
Microscopic examination revealed a solid neoplasm with variable cellularity, exhibiting both hypocellular and hypercellular areas. The tumor cells ranged from spindle-shaped and stellate to ovoid, with eosinophilic cytoplasm and eccentric nuclei.
Immunohistochemical analysis showed positivity for myogenin, MYOD1, and desmin, while being negative for PanCK, SMA, CD99, and CD34.
A diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma was established. The patient was treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgical resection.
