Título: BONE LESIONS OF THE JAWS: A 14-YEAR EXPERIENCE IN A BRAZILIAN POPULATION

Nome do Apresentador: Larissa CONRADO da Silva

Categoria do Trabalho: Pôster - Investigação Original (IO)

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: Objective: To assess the frequency and characterize intraosseous lesions of the jaws diagnosed in a university service over a 14-year period, according to the 5th edition of the WHO Classification.
Study design: Retrospective cross-sectional study based on the analysis of clinical records of patients treated between January 2010 and December 2024. Intraosseous jaw lesions with sufficient data for diagnostic definition were included. The analyzed variables comprised demographic data, diagnosis, clinical manifestations, imaging characteristic and therapeutic management. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were performed.
Results: The sample included 181 intraosseous lesions, with a predominance of females (69.1%) and ages ranging from 8 to 87 years (median: 47 years). Odontogenic lesions (47%), fibro-osseous lesions (21.5%), and osteonecrosis of the jaws (12.2%) were the most frequent conditions. Radiolucent (42%) and unilocular (35.9%) patterns predominated, with greater involvement of the posterior mandible (48.1%). Surgical management was the most commonly adopted treatment and was significantly associated with pain, swelling, and posterior mandibular location (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Intraosseous jaw lesions present a heterogeneous profile and variable clinical and imaging behavior, highlighting the importance of diagnostic standardization and the integration of clinical, imaging, and histopathological findings for appropriate management.
