Resumo: Objective: this study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of a natural-based mouthwash (Oral Plus, Alora®), combined with photobiomodulation (PBM) and standard oral care, in the prevention and management of chemotherapy-induced oral toxicities. Study design: a pilot, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial. Patients undergoing stomatotoxic chemotherapy protocols were included and randomized into two groups: experimental (Oral Plus + PBM) and control (placebo + PBM). The evaluated outcomes included oral mucositis (OM) (WHO scale), pain intensity and xerostomia (Visual Analog Scale - VAS), and Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) (Oral Health Impact Profile-14 - OHIP-14). Results: Of the 33 randomized participants, 27 completed the protocol (Experimental n=13; Control n=14). The prevalence of OM was low and without a statistically significant difference between the groups (p>0.05). Pain and xerostomia scores remained stable and low in both groups, with no significant intragroup or intergroup differences (p>0.05). OHRQoL showed no significant change over time (p=0.780) and did not differ between the groups (p=0.227). No adverse effects were observed from the use of the mouthwash. Conclusion: Under a preventive and therapeutic protocol involving PBM and standard oral care, the addition of the mouthwash did not promote a significant additional reduction in the evaluated toxicities.
