Título: Extensive Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Soft Palate in a Young Adult: Oral Medicine Support During Oncologic Treatment

Resumo: A 30-year-old female presented with swelling in the right maxillary region that developed after extraction of tooth 17, clinically involving the right soft palate. An incisional biopsy performed in July 2024 revealed mucoepidermoid carcinoma with clear cells. Imaging studies demonstrated extension of the lesion into the right maxillary sinus. The patient underwent right infra- and mesostructure maxillectomy. Histopathological examination confirmed mucoepidermoid carcinoma with compromised surgical margins. Follow-up imaging suggested residual or recurrent disease, and the patient was referred for radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy. The Oral Medicine team remained involved throughout treatment, including fabrication of an intraoral radiation stent, photobiomodulation therapy for oral mucositis, oral hygiene guidance, management of fungal infection, and prescription for xerostomia. A palatal obturator prosthesis was subsequently fabricated using a digital workflow. The patient remains under follow-up with no evidence of disease recurrence. This case highlights the critical role of Oral Medicine in multidisciplinary oncologic care.
