Título: ORAL ADVERSE EVENTS RELATED TO GLP-1 RECEPTOR AGONISTS: AN ANALYSIS OF SPONTANEOUS REPORTS IN EUDRAVIGILANCE

Resumo: Objective:
The present study aimed to analyze the occurrence of oral adverse events in patients receiving glucagon like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists which are used for management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and weight control by describing data from individual case safety reports (ICSRs) retrieved from the European spontaneous reporting system (ESRS).
Study design:
We analyzed individual case safety reports from the ESRS databases. Data was retrieved from the date of marketing authorization of each medication (liraglutide, semaglutide, and tirzepatide) to March, 2026. Data analysis was done using the frequency analysis.
Results:
Until March, 2026, there were 110 cases of dry mouth (5.5:1000) with Liraglutide, 235 cases (4.7:1000) with semaglutide and 136 case (4.6:1000) with tirzepatide. For taste disorder, there were 87 cases (4.3:1000) with liraglutide, 502 cases (1:100) with semaglutide and 153 cases (5.1:1000) with tirzepatide. Additionally, there were 73 cases of angioedema (3.6:1000) with Liraglutide, 144 cases (2.8:1000) with semaglutide and 111 cases (3.7:1000) with tirzepatide.
Conclusion:
We provides a descriptive overview of reports of oral adverse events. We found that GLP 1 receptor agonists are associated substantially with taste disorder, dry mouth, and angioedema. Future studies are required to confirm these associations and clarify underlying mechanisms.
