Resumo: Solitary bone plasmacytoma (SBP) is a localized neoplasm of monoclonal plasma cells involving a single bone. In the jaws, it presents as an irregular radiolucency that may mimic odontogenic tumors. Approximately 35-50% of cases progress to multiple myeloma, highlighting the need for long-term follow-up. Spontaneous regression of this disease is rarely reported. This study describes a six-month follow-up of a case managed without treatment.
A 60-year-old woman presented with swelling of the vestibular sulcus in the lower anterior region, gingival enlargement from teeth 31 to 44, and mobility of teeth 41 and 42. Panoramic radiography revealed a non-corticated, irregular radiolucent lesion extending from 34 to 46. Biopsy demonstrated dense plasma cell proliferation, positive for CD138 and kappa light chains, confirming monoclonality. Bone scintigraphy confirmed a solitary mandibular lesion. The patient was referred for oncologic evaluation but placed under observation. Clinical and radiographic follow-up are presented.
