Resumo: Photobiomodulation (PBMT) is an effective, non-invasive therapeutic approach for managing oral/oropharyngeal lesions associated with immune-mediated diseases. By stimulating tissue repair and providing anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, PBMT can significantly improve quality of life, comfort, and swallowing function in patients suffering from severe mucosal alterations. This project evaluates PBMT for treating oropharyngeal lesions of immune-mediated diseases, using a protocol with an elongated optical fiber coupled to a low-power laser, guided to the oropharynx via nasolaryngoscopy. A female, 68-years-old, smoker, disclaimed dysphagia, choking, coughing, chewing difficulty, excessive salivation, and severe odynophagia due to mucocutaneous lesions. The diagnosis of Linear IgA Dermatosis was confirmed via oral incisional biopsy, which showed subepithelial cleavage and linear IgA deposition. Hematological tests were negative, except for intermediate G6PD deficiency. The lesions affected the oropharynx, with nasolaryngoscopy revealing erythema, edema, and erythroleukoplakia areas. This protocol was particularly useful for reducing the severity of oropharynx lesions and pain.
