Título: Clinical management of oral and maxillofacial sequelae in a patient with multiple head and neck carcinomas

Resumo: A man, 63-year-old farmer with chronic UV exposure and a family history of cancer had a long-term history of multiple basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas in the head and neck region. Throughout the years, he has undergone several oncologic surgical procedures, including cervical lymph node dissection, partial rhinectomy, right orbital exenteration, and repeated local recurrences, which led to significant facial deformity. He also completed three radiotherapy cycles at different periods of life. A multimodal approach was used by the medical team to treat the severe dermatological conditions. At a public Hospital Dentistry Service (HDS), the patient received treatment for many sequelae of oncologic therapy, including dry mouth, restorations to teeth affected by radiation caries, extractions, periodontal therapy, and ozone/laser therapy for mandibular osteoradionecrosis. In addition to treating the numerous sequelae of cancer treatment, HDS needs to be vigilant for the early diagnosis of other possible intraoral malignant lesions.
