Resumo: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common malignant neoplasm of the oral cavity, accounting for approximately 90% of all malignant tumors in this region. Although traditionally associated with individuals over 50 years and risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol, increasing incidence among younger patients has been observed, challenging the classic epidemiological profile. This study reports a case of SCC on the border of the tongue in a 27-year-old non-smoking male patient. Clinically, the lesion appeared as an erythroplasic area with ulceration, causing pain during acidic food intake for four months. Diagnosis was confirmed by histopathologic analysis of an incisional biopsy. The patient underwent partial glossectomy without adjuvant radiotherapy. Currently, the patient shows good health and no recurrence, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis even without classic risk factors. Early recognition improves prognosis and survival, reinforcing the need for careful clinical evaluation in young individuals with suspicious oral lesions.
