Título: Multidisciplinary team approach to Syphilis in Primary Health Care: A Case report

Resumo: Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by Treponema pallidum. A 19-year-old patient presented to primary health care for dental evaluation. Intraoral examination revealed a 3 mm erythematous macule on the posterior palate, an erythematous lesion with whitish areas on the right retrocommissural mucosa, a white plaque on the lingual apex, as well as bilateral oropharyngeal swelling and lymphadenopathy. The patient reported the onset of lesions one month prior. As part of the diagnostic workup, a rapid treponemal test was performed, with a reactive result, and a VDRL test was requested. The final diagnosis was secondary syphilis. Treatment with benzathine benzylpenicillin (1,200,000 IU, 6 doses) was initiated. The patient remained under follow-up by the Family Health Strategy team.
