Resumo: This is a case report of a 64-year-old male patient who quit smoking 15 years ago, with ongoing alcohol use and a history of prostate cancer, with stable PSA levels since treatment. He was diagnosed with oral lichen planus (OLP) over 10 years ago, confirmed by biopsy, and has not been followed up since then. The patient presented to a stomatologist with complaints of pain and spontaneous bleeding at the site of the previous OLP biopsy. On physical examination, an ulcerated tumor with raised margins was observed on the right lateral border of the tongue, extending to the retromolar trigone, along with cervical lymphadenopathy.
An incisional biopsy was performed, confirming the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma. The patient was referred to a head and neck surgeon for appropriate management. Additionally, the patient will remain under surveillance for the potential development of new lesions associated with OLP.
