Resumo: Objective: To quantify gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) volume and analyze its association with periodontal condition, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) activity and pharmacological variables. Study Design: This was a cross-sectional study involving 33 paired patients (18 with RA and 15 controls). RA activity, functional capacity, use of immunobiologicals, polypharmacy and anticholinergic burden were assessed. Periodontal examination included clinical probing depth (CPD), plaque index (PI) and bleeding on probing (BOP). GCF volume was measured using Periotron®. Inferential statistical tests and multivariate correspondence analysis were applied. Results: RA patients exhibited a higher frequency of periodontitis, with mean CPD of 4%, PI of 25.5% and BOP of 30%. In the control group, gingivitis predominated, with mean CPD of 1%, PI of 32% and BOP of 34%. Despite similar GCF levels between the groups, multivariate analysis revealed a strong association between periodontitis, PI>20%, pocket depth>4 mm and severe inflammation with higher RA activity, worse functional capacity, use of immunobiologicals, polypharmacy and elevated anticholinergic burden. Conclusion: Greater periodontal severity was associated with RA activity and anticholinergic burden, demonstrating an inverse pattern between more severe periodontitis and lower GCF levels.
