Resumo: This study presents a series of cases involving patients with functional impairments following head and neck radiation therapy. A retrospective study was conducted by analyzing the medical records of patients treated at a clinical research center affiliated with a public university. Patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer who underwent radiotherapy with a mouth opening limitation less than 40 mm were included. Exclusion criteria were medical records with inadequate documentation and patients without mouth opening limitation. Of 27 medical records, 14 were excluded based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of 13 included cases, 11 (84.5%) presented muscle weakness, 8 (61%) left-sided deviation of opening, 11 (84.5%) with trismus, 13 (100%) with TMD, and 11 (85%) reported pain. Through data analysis, it was concluded that radiation therapy to the head and neck region causes significant sequelae that directly impact the functionality and possibly the quality of life of these patients.
