Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: A 15-year-old girl was referred for evaluation of a nodular lesion on the left posterior hard palate measuring approximately 30 mm. Clinical examination revealed a firm, well-circumscribed submucosal swelling covered by intact mucosa. The main diagnostic hypothesis was pleomorphic adenoma. An incisional biopsy was performed. At follow-up, the lesion presented superficial ulceration but remained asymptomatic. Histopathological analysis confirmed pleomorphic adenoma of the left maxilla. The patient was referred for surgical management. Preoperative assessment included laboratory tests, chest radiography, and cardiologic evaluation. Complete surgical excision was performed. Postoperative follow-up demonstrated satisfactory healing, with no clinical alterations or symptoms. The patient remains under periodic surveillance without evidence of recurrence. Although uncommon in adolescents, pleomorphic adenoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of palatal nodules, and early diagnosis with complete excision is essential to prevent recurrence.
