Título: Epidemiological Profile and Histopathological Correlation in a Hospital-Based Interprofessional Stomatopathology Service

Resumo: Objective: To characterize the epidemiological profile and correlate clinical and histopathological diagnoses of patients managed at an interprofessional stomatopathology service.Study Design: This was a prospective, cross-sectional study. Clinical data and histopathological reports from consultations conducted between March 2024 and September 2025 were analyzed. The level of significance was set at (p < 0.05). Results: A total of 38 patients were evaluated, with a female predominance (68.4%) and a mean age of 45 years (SD ± 17.6); the age group over 60 years (23.7%) was the most prevalent. Oral lesions were identified in 84.1% of the sample, with nodular (28.1%) and ulcerated (18.8%) patterns being the most frequent, primarily involving the tongue (34.2%). The most frequent clinical diagnosis was Sjögren's syndrome (16.7%), followed by mucocele (11.1%). Biopsies were performed in 52.6% of patients, of which 80% were excisional. Histopathologically, fibrous hyperplasia (23.5%), mucocele (17.6%), and focal lymphocytic sialadenitis (17.6%) were the most common findings. Substantial agreement was observed between clinical and histopathological diagnoses (Kappa = 0.71).Conclusion: The integration of oral surgeons into interprofessional hospital teams optimizes diagnostic accuracy and promotes integrated care between clinical specialties and pathology.
