Título: MANDIBULAR METASTASIS FROM THYROID CARCINOMA: A CASE REPORT AND CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Resumo: A 39-year-old male patient presented with asymmetry of the face with increased volume in the anterior mandible associated with tooth mobility. He reported purulent secretion and prior use of antibiotics. A computed tomography was requested and revealed a hypodense lesion with an infiltrative and destructive appearance, with rupture of the buccal cortical bone and root resorption of the teeth in the affected region. Given the diagnostic hypothesis of malignant neoplasm, a fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) was performed. Cytopathological showed presence of malignant neoplastic cells compatible with metastasis from thyroid carcinoma. After the diagnosis, palliative treatment was initiated and the patient eventually died. This case highlights the importance of follow-up in patients with thyroid carcinoma and demonstrates that, although metastasis to the mandible is uncommon, integrated collaboration between dentistry and oncology is essential for diagnosis and treatment planning, reinforcing the need for a multidisciplinary approach in the care of oncology patients.
